Microwave Sensors for Breast Cancer Detection
Breast cancer is the leading cause of death among females, early diagnostic methods with suitable treatments improve the 5-year survival rates significantly. Microwave breast imaging has been reported as the most potential to become the alternative or additional tool to the current gold standard X-ray mammography for detecting breast cancer. The microwave breast image quality is affected by the...
متن کاملHomogeneous and Heterogeneous Breast Phantoms for Ultra-wideband Microwave Imaging Applications
The paper discusses fabrication of homogenous and heterogeneous breast phantoms to simulate the dielectric properties of human breast over the microwave frequency range from 0.5GHz to 13.5GHz. The breast phantoms have stable mechanical configuration and dielectric properties suitable for microwave imaging experiments particularly ultra-wideband microwave imaging for breast cancer detection.
متن کاملRecent Advances in Microwave Imaging for Breast Cancer Detection
Breast cancer is a disease that occurs most often in female cancer patients. Early detection can significantly reduce the mortality rate. Microwave breast imaging, which is noninvasive and harmless to human, offers a promising alternative method to mammography. This paper presents a review of recent advances in microwave imaging for breast cancer detection. We conclude by introducing new resear...
متن کاملHeterogeneous Anthropomorphic Phantoms with Realistic Dielectric Properties for Microwave Breast Imaging Experiments.
We present a technique for fabricating realistic breast phantoms for microwave imaging experiments. Using oil-in-gelatin dispersions that mimic breast tissue dielectric properties at microwave frequencies, we constructed four heterogeneous phantoms spanning the full range of volumetric breast densities. We performed CT scans and dielectric properties measurements to characterize each phantom.
متن کاملBreast Cancer Diagnosis Using Microwave and Hybrid Imaging Methods
This paper explains new imaging techniques that show promising results in breast cancer detection. The presented techniques use microwave-based methods, wavelet analyses, and neural networks to get a suitable resolution for the breast image. One of the presented techniques (hybrid method) uses a combination of microwaves and acoustic signals to improve the detection capability. Some promising r...
